Innkeeper  of the Rockies was organized as a Colorado Limited Liability Company in early 2005.  The owner, Linda Lankford, has      operated the Guest Haus (formerly associated with Hostel of the Rocky Mountains) since 2001.  When the former owner of the previous hostel sold the property on Downing Street and retired, Linda stepped in.  With a new location at 1717 Race Street and a fresh new look, Linda and her management team, Tami, Nick, Blue, April and Ty, and everyone associated with the hostel, is determined to make Hostel of the Rockies one of the best International Youth Hostels in North America. 

  The historic apartment building at 1717 Race was built in 1905.  It is over one hundred years old.  We have kept as much of the original architecture and wood work in the building as possible, while updating the comfort and amenities.  All of the dorms were formerly apartments, so have kitchen areas, but no refrigerators or cooking facilities are in the dorms.  We have created a common room with full kitchen and lounge area in one of the units.  You will find television, refrigerators, a full stove, microwave, cable TV, VCR, book shelves loaded with novels and movies, board games, table and chairs, and lounge furniture.  We also have a bulletin board for messages.  We have a computer in the common room dedicated to email  and internet use by the guests, no charge. There is also wifi throughout the building and a VoIP (broadband) guest phone in the common room, also free.  There are coin-operated laundry facilities for guests, and a full bath in every dorm unit.  Additionally, there is a full bath in the common room.

Three of the dorm units have outdoor decks that open to the front of the building.  The back yard has tables, picnic areas and a large double barbeque grill for use.  We have just completed relandscaping the back yard and plan to add some outdoor games.  Saturday nights are community cook-out nights (weather permitting) when everyone can bring their appetite and $4.00 to indulge in the burgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken, pork chops, etc; whatever Linda whips up (GREAT FOOD) on the grills and just enjoy the wonderful Colorado weather.
